The widow of a veteran who died after a diagnostic procedure in 2002 at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital lost her suit against the Navy.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Corrigan ruled in the non-jury trial that there was not enough evidence to find the Navy doctor who performed a pancreatic procedure on Willie Jackson Jr. violated acceptable standards of medical care.
Willie Jackson, a 56-year-old Army veteran, died two days after the procedure was performed in December 2002 to determine the cause of his frequent bouts of pancreatitis.
His widow sued for $3.5 million in 2004 and the case went to trial in November.
