A 46-year-old man was taken to Shands Jacksonville hospital with life-threatening injuries after he became caught between two pieces of equipment at a Tallyrand industrial site.
The man, whose name was not released, was working on a machine that has a twist-and-turn mechanism to pick up concrete blocks and load them onto an elevator. The victim became trapped by the loader a little after midnight as it was moving onto the elevator, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report said. The man was working at a company named Semex on Marshall Street. Federal work-safety authorities are expected to investigate.
