Van Rollover Accident Hospitalizes Seven

October 28, 2005

Seven people were taken to area hospitals after their van rolled over on Interstate 75 near East Fort Myers between Luckett Road and State Road 82. The 1997 Dodge van's rear tire blew out, causing the vehicle to veer onto the shoulder and overturn several times.

Seven passengers were thrown from the van during the crash, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. Six passengers were taken to Lee Memorial with serious injuries, while a seventh was taken to Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center, troopers said. Driver Luis Guerrero Ledesma, 18, of Lehigh Acres was the only occupant not thrown from the vehicle or hospitalized. He was cited with driving with worn and unsafe tires, crash reports show.
