Three Children Injured In Minivan Crash

October 28, 2005

Three children were injured when the car they were riding in was hit by an oncoming vehicle that crossed the median into their lane.

Juanita V. Aparicio, 5; Jasmine S. Aparicio, 4; and Itzel Y. Rojas, 3, were injured when a four-door Toyota driven by Elouise J. Mitchell, 61, of Bartow crossed the median on North State Road 17, striking a minivan driven by Maria D. Rojas, 30, of Winter Haven, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Rojas' minivan overturned and flipped over the guardrail. Mitchell suffered minor injuries.

Mitchell was ticketed on charges of careless driving, and Rojas was ticketed on charges of no child restraints, the FHP report said. The children were taken to a hospital in Tampa.
