Tractor-trailer Rolls On Top Of Pickup, Killing One

A tractor-trailer rolled on top of a pickup on Monday afternoon, September 19, leaving one person dead and two in the hospital.

The tractor-trailer collided with a Ford pickup around 3:40 p.m. on Sumter Boulevard, south of Interstate 75.

North Port police Lt. Lee Liermann said that the driver of the semi-trailer and a person found inside the pickup were seriously injured and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Another person, who was still unidentified at press time, was found dead inside the pickup.

None of the victims was identified. Police would not comment on what may have caused the accident, saying it was under investigation.
