Young Motorist Dies In Head-on Collision

Authorities have identified a motorist killed in south Lake County as a 20-year-old man from Davenport in Polk County. The Florida Highway Patrol said a 1994 Saturn driven by Marius M. Ilie crossed the center median of U.S. Highway 192 in front of a westbound Toyota van. The Saturn spun clockwise in front of the van, and the van struck the car on the driver's side, the FHP said.
Ilie was pronounced dead at the scene. The van's driver, Leslie Roddom, 39, Clermont, had minor injuries. The accident happened at 4 p.m. about one mile east of U.S. highways 27 and 192, the FHP said.
