Motorcyclist Critically Hurt In Accident With Car

A motorcyclist was hospitalized in critical condition in Deland after a crash that snarled traffic on State Road 44, officials said. The accident occurred near Eau Claire Avenue in the DeLand area at about 3:20 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol traffic-report Web site.
The motorcycle rider, who was not wearing a helmet and who was pinned under a car, was flown to Halifax Medical Center by helicopter, said Mark O'Keefe, a spokesman with EVAC Ambulance. 'He had sustained life-threatening injuries,' O'Keefe said.
