A man accidentally drove over his teenage daughter with a pontoon boat on Lake Beresford near DeLand, authorities said.
Donald Gamroth, 43, cut the boat's speed, pitching 13-year-old Danielle Gamroth over the bow and into the path of the boat, said Joy Hill of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The propeller hit the girl, who was taken to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, she said. Danielle had been riding outside the rails of the boat, hanging her feet in the water, Hill said. The conservation commission is investigating the accident, since "bow-riding" is illegal, Hill said.
