Woman Accused Of DUI With Child On Board

A Punta Gorda woman is facing eight different charges, including DUI and child neglect, after crashing a car into a concrete wall in North Fort Myers Sunday night.

According to Deputies, after the accident, Nelda Richards took off running - leaving a small child bleeding from the head at the scene of the crash.

The child was treated at Gulf Coast Hospital and released.

Richards was arrested less than a mile away in the woods. Deputies say Richards' license is suspended in Florida and Louisiana for DUI offenses.
