Woman, 9-year-old Die In Dinsmore Crash

November 7, 2005

A 64-year-old grandmother and a 9-year-old girl died Thursday, September 22, after their car spun into oncoming traffic and was T-boned by a pickup truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Betty Duran was driving a family friend, Kaylee Day, home from school around 3:30 p.m. when their car struck the trailer of a dump truck on the 1000 block of New Kings Road in Dinsmore.

The car, traveling northbound, then spun out into the southbound lanes, and an oncoming pickup truck crashed into it.

The driver of the truck said he did his best to avoid hitting the vehicle. He was not injured seriously.
