A traffic accident in Hollywood Sunday evening killed a man at a dark intersection in a hurricane-ravaged neighborhood.
At about 6:42 p.m., on October 30, a Honda Accord carrying two juveniles drove east on Johnson Street, while a Toyota Corolla with a husband and wife drove north on 70th Avenue and went past the stop sign without stopping, said Hollywood police.
The Toyota hit the Accord, and the two juveniles in the Accord fled on foot, police said.
The husband, of Hollywood, died at the scene.
His wife was seriously injured, probably a broken pelvis, and was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, police said.
Alfredo Falcon, a witness, was driving by when he saw the Accord and then heard a crash.
Mr. Falcon could not say for sure what the Accord struck because it was so dark.
Hollywood police said that the driver of the Accord will be charged when found because he fled the scene of an accident with injuries.
