Lemon Bay Students Injured In Car Crash

September 15, 2005

Three Lemon Bay students were injured in a car crash in Fort Myers, and one remains hospitalized.

Doctors called Sarah Gingerella's condition 'serious,' said spokeswoman Pat Dolce. Gingerella, a junior, had been in critical condition since she was flown to the hospital after the accident. 'It's an improvement,' Dolce said. Gingerella is the only student who remains hospitalized.

She was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Pontiac Grand Prix when the driver, junior Alicia Campbell, turned in front of another vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The car was hit broadside, collapsing the passenger side. Senior Matt Browne was riding in the back seat. The accident occurred after school at Sunnybrook Boulevard and South McCall Road. The driver of the other car did not suffer serious injuries.
