One person was injured in this car-truck accident Tuesday afternoon, December 6.
The accident occurred at the intersection of US HWY 90 and State Road 12 near Douglas City.
The passenger in the car, whose identity was not immediately known, was taken by helicopter to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the truck refused medical attention.
No information was available from the highway patrol.
CPSC, KING OF FANS INCORPORATED ANNOUNCE RECALL OF OIL-FILLED RADIATOR HEATERS
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with King of Fans Incorporated of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announced a voluntary recall of Maxi-Heat(tm) Electric Oil-Filled Radiator Heater.
Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
The name of Product is the Maxi-Heat(tm) Electric Oil-Filled Radiator Heater.
The quantity of the recall product is about 202,000.
Distributor of the product is King of Fans Incorporated of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Hazard associated with the product is that welds in the heating fins can break, allowing oil to leak. This poses a burn and fall hazard to consumers.
King of Fans Inc. has received 81 reports of incidents involving leaking oil. Two minor burns were reported, along with two reports of falls in the oil.
The portable electric radiator-style heaters have seven fins, one of which has the control panel attached to it. The units are gray with a black control panel. 'Maxi-Heat(tm)' is printed below the handle indentation on the control panel.
The model number 70030 and date codes 0705 and 0805 are printed on the UL label on the lower right side of the control panel. The following purchase order numbers are located on the bottom of the radiator heater's packaging: 56199910, 56199924, 56199961, 57105731, 57105732, 57100092, 57100089, 57100086, 57105685, and 57105686.
Product was sold at The Home Depot stores in the Northeast and Midwest from October 2005 through November 2005 for about $35.
Product was manufactured in China.
Consumers should immediately stop using these heaters and unplug them. Return the recalled heaters to a Home Depot store for a full refund.
