Pygmy Rattlesnake Bites Man In Apartment

August 5, 2005

July 25, 2005: A 39-year-old man was taken to the hospital after he was bitten by a pygmy rattlesnake.

The incident happened at the Bay Isles Key Apartments at Martin Luther King and 118th Avenue in St. Petersburg. The snake bit the man on his thumb, said Lt. Rick Feinberg with St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue. Officials aren't sure what the man was doing when he was bitten.

The man, whose name was not released, and the snake were taken to Northside Hospital where the man was in stable condition. Feinberg said he doesn't know what will happen to the snake.
